i want to write you

i want to write

some or all of the words

that to me, describe you

sweet

salty

sour

i want

all of my pages

in unison

to sing out my love

i want to embellish

the pages of my soul

with the descriptions of you

that make me

smile

blush

and whisper

i want you to feel

the sedation of my words

as they permeate

your heart

to reflect the mirror image

of love you try to circumvent

i want to sing you

page by page

vibrating to your melodic rhythm

pulsating to the beat

of your drum

elongating every ‘O’

emphasizing every ‘Mmm’

i want to exhaust time

trying to find the best fitting adjectives

that describe who you are to me

best friend

listener

secret keeper

i want to Google “translate from english to…”

to mysteriously translate what you mean to me in other languages…

étalon

oba

kè mwen

mtetezi

alas…

all i could write was this

wishing and hoping

that one day i will live in the dream

that replays the vision of you…

until then

I will keep the words that are etched in my mind

secure.

until I’m sure

that your paper can handle my ink.
